Essential Questions To Ask Your Real Estate Agent

Essential Questions To Ask Your Real Estate Agent

When you’re preparing to buy a house, you want trusted advisors on your side. That’s when a real estate agent becomes essential.

A buyer’s agent will work as your advocate throughout the purchasing process. They will represent your interests when it comes time to make an offer and negotiate, and they will be able to advise you on the right steps to take should there be any questions about a property.

But because your agent will be by your side throughout the process, you want to make sure you two trust each other. The best way to ensure this is to ask potential real estate agents these essential questions.

Which Neighborhoods Do You Focus On?

If you’re looking at real estate in Orange County neighborhoods, you don’t want a realtor from elsewhere. You want to be sure that the agent knows the areas you are interested in so that they know the market inside and out.

Are You Licensed?

It sounds like a silly question to ask, but you want to verify that your agent can, in fact, work in California if you’re looking at homes in Los Angeles. Check licensing through the state agency to make sure everything is current.

How Long Have You Been In The Industry?

It’s not to say that someone starting out can’t be a great advocate for you, but an experienced real estate agent will give you the peace of mind that they know what they’re talking about, with a track record of deals to back it up.

Do You Have Past Clients I Can Contact?

Personal recommendations can go far when you’re looking for someone you trust. A proven agent will have no problem providing you with a few names of past clients to contact, which will help you learn more about how that agent works and what you can expect.

How Will We Communicate?

Will your agent be emailing you an update whenever any home in your parameters is available in Corona? Or will they call you to tell you the specifics beforehand? Know what kinds of communication to expect, and how often to expect them.
